A Breather

Hello dear blog readers, this is just a short note to say I'm taking the rest of the week off to catch up on a few things. The start of the new school year has me backed up, as I adjust to my family's schedule.

I didn't do anything official on my blog, but on InstagramI posted 10 books I want to read this fall
What's on your fall TBR?

I plan to visit all your blogs soon too! I'm still trying to get into a rhythm of that doesn't leave me so behind, but that's a discussion for another day.

In the meantime, The Perilous Sea by Sherry Thomas released this week, and I thought this sequel to The Burning Sky was even better than the first in the series.

Now, I want you all to head over to Carina's Book Blog and check out her amazing guest post by Sherry Thomas. As someone who dislikes love triangles as much as I do, this was pretty much the best thing ever. It seems like love triangles are popping up in series everywhere, and it was refreshing to see an author articulate why she doesn't like them. She basically took the words out of my mouth. The Perilous Sea is the second book in a series, and it doesn't even have a hint of a love triangle, which feels pretty miraculous these days.

Check HERE for the post.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway for 3 books on the Fall Fierce Reads tour.

See you all back here soon, and and even sooner on twitter. I'm not going far!

  4. I'm very curious to see what you think of Lark Rising, Lauren. It seems to be a promising fantasy but, more often than not, those wind up disappointing me so I'm awaiting your thoughts on that one. I can't wait to finally pick up both Princess of Thorns and A Cure for Dreaming--I've been ignoring those ARCs for much too long--and, as always, I just know I'll adore the new Palmer novel. Thanks for sharing and I hope you enjoy your week off, Lauren! I really need to post a vast explanation for my internet absence... O.o.

  5. I COMPLETELY understand and agree!! I'm having a hard time balancing everything at the moment (you may have noticed the rather sporadic postings) so take your time -- you'll get there (as will I)!

  7. The Retribution of Mara Dyer!!!! I can't wait to read that book, but I'm also nervous about it, I have to say. I've heard incredible things about The Young Elites, I can't wait to read it. I read Princess of Thorns (I just couldn't wait) and I really enjoyed it. Lark Rising sounds so good! And Chaos!!! Can't wait, not too much longer now. So many great books to read!

And I LOVED The Perilous Sea. This is one of my favorite series.

Have a great rest of the week! ~Pam

  9. That Sherry Thomas post - made my YEAR. I wish everyone saw it that way. :( Love stories are so much more fulfilling without a love triangle.
Lots of great books on that list! Hope you enjoy Lark Rising. We are gonna have to hold each other for Mara. Also The Young Elites. I plan to binge read the Sanctum series too. And of course Princess of Thorns looks amazing. Basically, I love your list. :P

  10. Seems like a lot of people are having difficulty adjusting now that school's back in session. I'm adjusting by losing sleep, lol. :P Mara and Chaos are high on my priority list this fall. I'll be starting Chaos as soon as I finish Blue Lily, and I've had Mara pre-ordered for ages. It's finally almost here!!! :D

  12. Enjoy your time off Lauren!!!! And I'm with you on Princess of Thorns, The Young Elites and the third Guards of the Shadowlands book whose title I can't remember, CANNOT WAIT for all of those.

I feel like I'm having a Throne of Glass moment with The Perilous Sea. I feel like the only person who didn't think it worked quite as well as the first one! I fail. I do love Sherry Thomas though, and am of course looking forward to the next book in the series:)
