What if a microchip could identify your perfect match?

What if it could be used against you and the ones you love?

Eight years ago, Mercer Corporation's M-Bands became mandatory. An evolution of the smartphone, the bracelets promised an easier life. Instead, they have come to control it.

Two years ago, Maggie Stevens watched helplessly as one of the people she loved most was taken from her, shattering her world as she knew it. Now, Maggie is ready. And Quentin Mercer - heir to the M-Corp empire - has become key to Maggie's plan.

But as the pieces of her dangerous design fall into place, could Quentin's involvement destroy everything she's fought for?

In a world full of broken promises, the ones Maggie must keep could be the most heartbreaking.

Disruption was so so good!! I could not stop reading. This is the first in a duet, and I need book two nowwwww.

Here are five thoughts about this book:

What I loved:
1) This book is fast paced and had me reading quickly from stat to finish. I'm not a huge fan of government controlled dystopian these days, but Maggie's world worked for me. A lot of that is because I could definitely see our society getting addicted to the M-Band,
and our world definitely has faced horrors like those Maggie discovers. Also I was fascinated by the idea of technology that could track each person's pheromones.

2)
Maggie is badass. This girl is determined on her path and will stop at nothing to accomplish it. though it was tough to see her make some of the choices she did, I admire her drive and discipline to get there. And I loved seeing her realize that she had a lot more than she realized. Though it took a lot of pain for her to get there.

3) I'm always a fan of the hate to love romance, and this is a great example of one. Although he has no idea who she is at first, Maggie would consider herself the enemy of Quentin Mercer - or at the very least she sees him as a tool in the way of her quest to find her father. Of course , that is the perfect set up for a swoony romance. And it's delicious to watch Quentin and Maggie fall for each other. Of course he's not at all what she thought he'd be at first. I was dying to find out how they rated together!

4) This ending is a tough one! It's very much a cliffhanger, but one with some hope attached to it (thank goodness!). This all just made me even more desperate to get my hands on the sequel. And it's all the more maddening because I know it exists in Australia. I just can't access it here. Hopefully soon though!

What I didn't:
5) I found some things about what Maggie discovers in the climax to be predictable - I've definitely seen some of these elements before - and at the same time hard to believe. I don't want to say more, for fear of spoilers, and thankfully, the characters and intense storyline made up for this part.

Book two, Corruption, releases next March and it can't come soon enough! I love that the second cover has a darker tone to it.

Love Triangle Factor: NONE
Cliffhanger Scale: High (but hope)

PS. Stay tuned on Friday when I have an interview with the author as part of the Disruption blog tour!

  1. I haven't yet heard of this one. It sounds a little bit like Matched, but maybe that's okay. I am intrigued by all the good you have had to say.
    Thanks for the review!
