I just love her style and I can't imagine that this won't at least be good. Maybe not perfect, but definitely good. But this is also going to make me more impatient for the next Raven Cycle book. Sorry the ending wasn't as emotionally satisfying as you hoped - that's one of my biggest pet peeves, when characters finally get together at the end but we get very little of the payoff. At least it's no ambiguous though! Maggie just has this amazing quality to her writing that the world just sucks you in no matter what world you're following the characters in. I actually disliked Cole a lot at first since he was such a distraction with his POV from Sam and Grace whom I wanted to read about in Linger. Buuuuut!!!! I've come to love him and Isabel so much and by the end of it they were even more important to me than Sam and Grace. I'm sorry the communication wasn't as big as you would have wanted :/ Though I'm glad that the ending gives us conclusion since Maggie is nutorious for open-endings. At the end of the day, I'm glad you enjoyed this one and I hope I will too :)Siirihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18265532869057616598noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6652084782125897918.post-65452703443551393972014-06-20T16:57:40.827-04:002014-06-20T16:57:40.827-04:00This is sad because it hasn't been that long s...This is sad because it hasn't been that long since I read the series, but I barely remember Cole and I don't even remember Isabel. I tried it way back before I started the blog though, so I kind of think I should give it another try. This spinoff doesn't sound like it blew you away though, so maybe I'll just stick with Sam and Grace:) Gorgeous review as always!Jennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14199685365145765394noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6652084782125897918.post-47676018342270333362014-06-20T08:29:23.283-04:002014-06-20T08:29:23.283-04:00Thanks for the early review, Lauren…and no you did...Thanks for the early review, Lauren…and no you didn't kick my early resolve not to read early reviews :-P I love Cole and Isabel and really wanted a standalone story of theirs, and I'm so glad it happened! (I'll try not to draw comparisons between The Wolves of Mercy Falls and Sinner. The two are related but different beasts.) It's lovely we get a glimpse into the lives of Sam and Grace, but this is Cole and Isabel we're talking about. They're destructive and angsty. And even if their romance is rocky, I'm intrigued to see how they work it out (or see them try). I think I can love this one, even if it's missing a little magic.

Thanks again, Lauren. Still, very often I struggle with her books and to be honest, I never finished the Shiver series. I might give this one a try since the setting sounds great and also different from the other wolf settings. I think also Cole will be also a character I can fall for! I was looking forward to this but I don't like a romance where the whole story is drama and pushing and then at the very end the couple finally gets together. I like some time with the happy couple while. I guess I'll lower my expectations a little. I haven't been able to sit down and right a review for this yet (I still haven't written a review for Dreams of Gods & Monsters, so I'm seriously behind on review-writing!) but we've discussed this one at length so much that there hardly seems to be anything left to say. It was good, but it wasn't brilliant. I'm hoping Blue Lily Lily Blue is the fantastic Stiefvater read we're hoping for this year since Sinner left a bit to be desired. I'd visit Sam & Grace in Mercy Falls over these two in Sunny CA any day, I'm afraid, but it was definitely well-worth the visit.
