I actually haven't read the first book so I'm especially glad for the note in the beginning :) I'm glad there isn't really a love triangle either! I haven't been too excited to read Pushing the Limits, but now I know I have to because I'm definitely reading this one...and I can't go out of order. And I think that Isaiah's story will be even better. It looked GREAT from the glimpse we got at the end of DYT. Oh the rain! Love Ryan's gesture to Beth. So sweet. Beth and Ryan are such a great couple, I agree! Love when an author makes us believe in a a pair. But I love companions, because their each a completed story. Sorry you never connected to these two. It did take me some time, but I got there. Though I was right with Beth in her anger from the beginning. And in the end, I'm glad Isaiah isn't with Beth. They would have been a disaster together long term! I know it took Beth sometime to realize that Isaiah really liked her, but I also respect her for being honest with him about her feelings. It would have been easier to string him along. Beth grows a lot in this one! I think the next one is going to be the best of the bunch! We got a preview at the end of this one, and I'm already liking Rachel and Isaiah. Hopefully, we'll also see Isaiah and Beth come to a better understanding of their friendship - or at least see Isaiah realize that she was right in how she saw him. I was so worried about that. Although that part of the plot made me distrust Ryan at first, I like that it didn't end up being a completely predictable storyline. Yes, these are FUN books. It's supposed to be Isaiah! But I think it worked better this way too, in the end. Hears hoping Isaiah's story is just as good! While I don't think you need to have read PTL to enjoy DYT, I do think the second book makes more sense if you've read the first.

As a reader, I did not completely connect to either Beth or Ryan and so I liked the first book better. (And I'm probably the only one who is relieved that Isaiah did not get paired up with Beth. I think they are better off as friends.)

And yes -- SO glad that Beth finding out about the dare wasn't the main source of drama in the book. But I ...I actually loved Ryan right from the start! But I also think it was easier for me to warm up to his character because I didn't feel invested in the Beth/Isaiah pairing. I thought he was a much healthier choice for Beth as well, but she was also really good for him too. I respected her honesty, no-BS attitude and even that she knew her feelings for Isaiah were just friendship. I was worried there'd be a long drawn out love triangle and I'm glad the author didn't go down that route (and ditto on the dare reveal not being the climax - glad that didn't happen!). Ahh I can't wait to read her next book! I was initially bummed by Ryan's appearance, but he won me over and I was impressed that McGarry took a slightly different route with this one rather than the typical climax. I'm excited for the next book - and last one, I think - now, so hopefully it'll be just as entertaining as these two installments! I felt terrible for Isaiah, but he wasn't the one for her.
On the other hand, I always struggle a bit with McGarry's characters because she tends to take them in very expected directions and that's not how human beings behave.
