I love how Katie gives us so much background on these characters! And the car hobby was completely new to me, and I never felt lost. Which is huge. ;) I also wish I had more background on Eric. A lot of the time I was like who the heck does this twerp think he is? haha.Estellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04173717120884471137noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6652084782125897918.post-15821703879099161842013-11-13T21:34:34.567-05:002013-11-13T21:34:34.567-05:00I actually really like the sound of Rachel-I'm...I actually really like the sound of Rachel-I'm the eldest of two daughters but I get having a protective family and I'm excited to meet her!The Insouciant Sophisticatehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03934853089105345052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6652084782125897918.post-83041492957261081842013-11-11T19:06:05.690-05:002013-11-11T19:06:05.690-05:00You know, I was one of the few people who didn'...You know, I was one of the few people who didn't enjoy the first book at all, but all the raves for her others makes me want to reconsider--especially when you are the one raving, as I know you don't fall for every love story that comes along! You summed it up perfectly. <br />Funny that you weren't thrilled with Eric's role in the story.... I have been in this environment, working with kids that are in gangs, so for me, I loved this part of the story because the seriousness and brutality of that culture was really shown. Once kids end up in that situation it is extremely dangerous and difficult to escape. :( I think that is one of the things I appreciate most about Katie McGarry, is that she really has an understanding of street life. <br />I am dyiiiiing for the next book!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6652084782125897918.post-86813376212808324222013-11-08T19:47:22.628-05:002013-11-08T19:47:22.628-05:00I have this on my list to read very soon, and I...I have this on my list to read very soon, and I'm so excited! I also am not familiar with drag racing, and I'm excited to read about such a different slice of life. I already love Isaiah, so it's hard to imagine falling more in love with him, but I'm thrilled to hear you did. And Rachel sounds awesome! Oh my goodness, I can't believe we have four brothers whose romantic lives will need to be sorted out in future. *cheers* :D Great review!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6652084782125897918.post-76414806922582542212013-11-08T13:25:35.096-05:002013-11-08T13:25:35.096-05:00I really liked the inclusion of cars, the romance,...I really liked the inclusion of cars, the romance, and even the ending. I have to admit, though, that this book wasn't wholly satisfactory. I think I'm just getting bored with McGarry's writing and plot style the way I've gotten tired of Jennifer Armentrout. I also can't see McGarry writing about Rachel's older brothers, though I wish she would breach into that New Adult genre as it seems a lot more interesting, but we'll see. I'll be reading West's story for sure, but past that, I'm not sure. I'm glad you enjoyed this, though, Lauren - fantastic review!Keertanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01071392026876644282noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6652084782125897918.post-54719252186329952132013-11-08T11:13:38.818-05:002013-11-08T11:13:38.818-05:00I haven't read any of McGarry's books, but...I haven't read any of McGarry's books, but now I really, really want to, Lauren! I love all the different aspects that you highlighted. The cars is a great one because I think that's unique. I love how she doesn't magically fix everyone's problems like so many contemporary authors tend to do. And yay on possible other books about her brothers! Great review, I enjoyed it immensely :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00343758249538361290noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6652084782125897918.post-86393672519066011272013-11-08T10:29:15.237-05:002013-11-08T10:29:15.237-05:00"What I mean is that I'm thankful that Mc..."What I mean is that I'm thankful that McGarry respected this part of Rachel, without it seeming like a problem that Isaiah needed to fix"<br /><br />YES! I loved that aspect as well Lauren. Like you said, there wasn't a big to-do about it and Isaiah didn't treat her as overly fragile or inexperienced. And Rachel was neither absurdly hesitant nor overly gung-ho when it came to the physical moments, she just felt real and genuine and I loved the two of them together. Rachel's family was a highlight for me, there's so much messiness there and I'm fascinated. Like you, I hope we get stories for more than just West! Fabulous review:)Jennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14199685365145765394noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6652084782125897918.post-76287072573047152722013-11-08T09:35:42.531-05:002013-11-08T09:35:42.531-05:00I was happy that Isaiah didn't end up with Be...I was happy that Isaiah didn't end up with Beth, although I felt sorry for him because I didn't like Beth very much and I loved Isaiah.I'm happy to hear that you think Rachel is good match for him. I want to meet these brothers of Rachel:) I ...Hmm.. I want to meet these brothers of Rachel:) I pre-ordered the hardcover so hopefully I won't be waiting too long. I love that it has a realistic ending. I want a HEA, but I'm more likely to love it if it's a realistic one. For instance, you know.. I really liked Beautiful Disaster when I first read it. Then I read Walking Disaster, which in itself was a pretty bad book, in my humble opinion, and offered absolutely nothing new until the epilogue. Then we got to see "the life after" and wth was that? I can't even.. It was so unrealistic that I seriously have so much hate towards that book that I can't bring myself to write a review. So yes, an epilogue or the final chapter -- they're great if they have a HEA, but I don't want an over-the-top ending. I love it when they're simple, real and true to the book. The Sea of Tranquility is a perfect example. Anyhow.. I can't wait for Isaiah :) Siirihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18265532869057616598noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6652084782125897918.post-59361964491159297312013-11-08T08:08:45.626-05:002013-11-08T08:08:45.626-05:00I HIGHLY enjoyed this story.
