Waiting on Wednesday: World After by Susan Ee

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine
that spotlights upcoming releases we can't wait to get our hands on.

This week I can't wait for:

World After
by Susan Ee
(Penryn and the End of Days 2)
November 19, 2013* by Skyscape

In this sequel to the bestselling fantasy thriller, Angelfall, the survivors of the angel apocalypse begin to scrape back together what's left of the modern world.

When a group of people capture Penryn's sister Paige, thinking she's a monster, the situation ends in a massacre. Paige disappears. Humans are terrified. Mom is heartbroken.

Penryn drives through the streets of San Francisco looking for Paige. Why are the streets so empty? Where is everybody? Her search leads her into the heart of the angels' secret plans where she catches a glimpse of their motivations, and learns the horrifying extent to which the angels are willing to go.

Meanwhile, Raffe hunts for his wings. Without them, he can't rejoin the angels, can't take his rightful place as one of their leaders. When faced with recapturing his wings or helping Penryn survive, which will he choose? (From Goodreads)

Last weektalked about Shadows and Haze by Paula Weston, and that newly discovered angel series made me remember how much I LOVED Angelfall, which you should all read ASAP! Its sequel, World After is coming this fall* and I'm incredibly excited to read it. Even that work-in-progress cover has me salivating!

What are you waiting on this week?

*Allegedly (and hopefully) according to Goodreads and Amazon. Date not confirmed.

  1. Yes, I am so excited for this one! I love Penryn and Raffe and am very interested to see how their storyline plays out. I feel like this series has gotten so much publicity since it first sold, but I'm hoping the hype is warranted for the sequel! *fingers crossed* Great WoW pick, Lauren!(:

  2. Wait! The sequel comes this fall? :O I thought it was 2014 or something. WOW!!! I need go home and take Angelfall out of my shelf and put it in the front row so I can pick it up at the end of August. I've been waiting for the sequel for so long even though I haven't read #1 yet since everyone, literally EVERYONE, keeps raving about it. CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. I really hope that date holds. I am *dying* for this sequel. I think I've already read and listened to Angel fall three times, and I'm not a big re-reader. Not because I don't like to, just that I don't have the time. But I make time for re-reads of Angelfall. :)

  6. I have Angelfall on my TBR list still! I really need to get on that haha. I've heard such great things about Susan Ee. Awesome pick.

  7. *dies of want* I need this book Lauren! Angelfall absolutely blew me away when I read it and I feel like I've been waiting for this book for an absurdly long time. I think I got Angelfall at BEA last year, so by the time this comes out in November it will have been a year and a half. That is too long to wait for Raffe and Penryn! But that's just me being greedy and demanding because I loved Angelfall so much:)

  9. I haven't read Angelfall - as you know I'm not the hugest fantasy reader and I thought it was pure fantasy. I had no idea there was an angel apocalypse involved... Maybe I'll give it a try!

  10. Ohh, there is a title! And a synopsis! And I can't wait to see the cover because I'm pretty sure it'll be gorgeous. I'm not that thrilled about the blurb because it doesn't sound that different from the first book, which is a bit disappointing, but I'll just have to wait and see.

  13. I feel so out of the loop, I've never even heard of this series. It does sound amazing, though, and I will for sure add the first book to my TBR!

  15. I started Angelfall, but for some reason had to put it down - but I've had the itch to pick it back up lately. And then I've seen where this one will be released soon. So, yeah, I want to read this one and get to this second one as well because at about halway thru, I was really enjoying the first book.
