FOR THE LOVE OF SWOON GIVEAWAY

This Giveaway Hop is hosted by The Book Hookup & I Am A Reader, Not A Writer
For The Love of Swoon runs February 14 - 21, 2013

Who needs a real Valentine when there are so many charming fictional heroes to sweep you off your feet?

Below are five books and couples that never fail to make my heart flutter,
and you can WIN one of them.
_________________________________________________________

1) Favorite Subtle Slow-Burn Romance: Sean and Puck in The Scorpio Races

Sometimes my favorite love stories are the subtle ones. They're not about how much kissing happens or in loud declarations of love. But they're made up of small moments and actions that say big things about how the characters feel about each other. Sean and Puck are that kind of romance.
"I move through the group, touching elbows and asking after her, thinking all the while that to do so is to shout my feelings about her. No one has seen her.
The race is tomorrow and I've done my part for Tommy Falk and I should go back to the yard but I feel hollow, knowing that Puck's here somewhere and I haven't found her. I need to find her, and the needing disquiets me."

2) Favorite couple I NEVER saw coming: Gen and Irene in The King of Attolia

Guys these two would have made my NEVER GETTING TOGETHER list at one point in their relationship. But I think that's what's most amazing about them as a couple. They are so very unconventional that Megan Whalen Turner had to work hard to show her readers (and her other characters) that they are in fact a perfect match.
"[He] lifted a hand to her cheek and kissed her. It was not a kiss between strangers, not even a kiss between a bride and a groom. It was a kiss between a man and his wife, and when it was over, [he] closed his eyes and rested his forehead against the hollow of [her] shoulder, like a man seeking respite, like a man reaching home at the end of the day."

3) Favorite Love Letter: Phillip to Marianne in Edenbrooke

Edenbrook is a funny, endearing, melt your socks off, historical romance that is appropriate for all ages. Phillip is one dreamy hero, and he's bound and determined to show Marianne how he feels.
"Open your eyes , Love, and see what is right before you: that I am not merely a friend, but a man deeply, desperately , in love with you."

4) Favorite density of Swoon: The Lumatere Chronicles by Melina Marchetta

Basically this entire series is so amazing it makes me swoon, as does about 10 different couples in these books. One of my favorites is Froi and Quintana, who have not only had to fight for survival their entire lives, but you won't believe what obstacles stand between them.
And he saw it in her eyes. Still. The belief that there could be someone other than herself. You, he wanted to shout. You. No one but you. Stupid, stupid girl
5) Favorite Couple despite a dreaded Love Triangle: Juliette and Adam from Shatter Me

Remember when Adam did everything in his power to rescue Juliette from evil Warner, including being beaten and tortured? Remember that he's the only person in the world who noticed the beauty of her character when she was a child? Yeah, I haven't forgotten that. For those reasons and many more, I'm not giving up on Adam and Juliette despite insurmountable odds (and a sneaky Warner).
“He whispers, "You have no idea how much I've thought about you. How many times I've dreamt"-he takes a tight breath- "how many times I've dreamt about being this close to you." He moves to run a hand through his hair before he changes his mind. Looks down. Looks up. "God, Juliette, I'd follow you anywhere. You're the only good thing left in this world.”

  1. I absolutely loved the scorpio races. :) And have the same hopes for Juliette and Adam as you do...but the rest of them are still on my TBR list. The Queen's Thief series is near the very top. :)

  2. AWESOME choices, Lauren! For me, my favorite slow-burn romance is Fire and Brigan from Kristin Cashore's Fire although I think Puck and Sean are easily a close second, along with Sorcha and Red from DotF. My favorite love letter, though, HAS to be the one Captain Wentworth gives Anne Elliot in Persuasion. I just LOVE it. I definitely didn't see Gen and Irene coming and YES, the swoon in Melina Marchetta's books is awesome! Or even the swoon factor in The Sky is Everywhere, although I love the subtly of MM's writing. Wonderful, wonderful list, Lauren, and thanks for the giveaway! :)

  3. I approve of these choices as well! Also, I have too many favorites to name, so I'll just gab about my most recent swoonworthy couple, Marak and Kate from The Hollow Kingdoms...I'm utterly in love. I'm so glad you came around to Gen and Irene, and I'm so excited to finally be reading Lumatere with you!!

  4. I definitely approve of EUGENIDES AND ATTOLIA (I just can't call her Irene). They're one of my favorite couples ever and I love that quote so much. I really do need to read Destroy Me and Unravel Me, but I have a feeling I'll end up being on your side of that love triangle. Can't wait to find out! And Sean and Puck! So many good relationships, Lauren!
