Stacking the Shelves (3) / In My Mailbox (6)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews

This week's book haul, is really the past two week's book haul. Since I'm snowed in, and the governor has said any driver on the road will face up to a year in prison (not that I'd want to be driving right now anyway), I had time to put this post together!

From the Library:

1) Looking for Alibrandi by Melina Marchetta -This is my last of Marchetta's novels, and I'm both sad and excited to read it.

2) Audrey, Wait! by Robin Benway - I have yet to read any of this author's novels, but I keep hearing raves about this book.

3) The Archived by Victoria Schwab - A book about a library for the dead? Yes, please. I can't wait to open this one.

4) Lovely, Dark and Deep by Amy McNamara - I keep hearing wonderful things about this book, and I hope to get to it soon. Also the perfect moody book for a snow storm.

Purchase:

5) Asunder by Jodi Meadows - I had the opportunity to attend the Book Launch for Asunder, and meet the author. She is really fantastic. Read my thoughts on the event HERE. My review of the book is HERE

6) Everbound by Brodi Ashton - This was a great follow up to Everneath, with a completely surprising ending. I also got to meet Brodi this week (as well as three other amazing authors). Find out all about it, HERE. See my thoughts on Everbound, HERE.

7 and 8) The King of Attolia and A Conspiracy of Kings by Megan Whalen Turner - I almost cried when I had to return these books to the library after I read them. I was thrilled to purchase my own copies this week.

9) Perfect Scoundrels by Ally Carter - (ebook, not pictured) Can't wait for more Hale and Kat!

For review:

10) Quintana of Charyn by Melina Marchetta - THANK YOU, Candlewick Press! I LOVE THIS BOOK. That is all.

11) The Runaway King by Jennifer A. Nielsen - (ebook, not pictured) I cannot wait to read the sequel to the fantastic The False Prince. THANK YOU, Netgallery!

From a friend:

12) Scarlet by Marissa Meyer - I am halfway through this book and loving so far.  THANK YOU, Asheley @ Into the Hall of Books. I know this picture is horribly blurry, but I really love the ARC cover.

Recent posts of note:
  • On Thursday I attended the Boston Pitch Dark Days tour and met Veronica Rossi, Tahereh Mafi, Cynthia Hand and Brodi Ashton. Read about the event, HERE

What books did you receive recently?

I hope everyone is staying warm and dry and reading!

  1. Aaah, such an amazing haul! First of all, congrats on your own copy of KoA! I have QoA and KoA and both of them are riddled with post-its and underlined passages. I just LOVE those books! :)

Looking for Alibrandi is AMAZING. I know it doesn't get as much hype as Marchetta's other novels, but I thought it was so powerful. I'm actually going to be watching the movie this weekend! :D I wound up buying Everbound, although I haven't read it yet, and I picked up The Archived from my library too. I'm looking forward to reading it soon! I received Lovely, Dark, and Deep for review awhile back, so I still need to get to that, and Scarlet, as you know, was a book I wound up liking after all. Quintana is fabulous, so yay for your very own copy, and I can't wait to see what you think of Perfect Scoundrels! Gosh, there have been so many good releases this month, haven't there? I can't wait to compare notes with you on all these books soon, Lauren! Happy Reading! :D

  2. My mailbox post was a backlogged one too, and I don't have any excuses except LAZINESS:)

I cannot wait for you to read The Archived, Looking For Alibrandi and Audrey, Wait! so we can discuss! I'm going to do a Music Themes in YA post and will be reviewing AW then.

But of all of your books I am most excited to hear your thoughts about Lovely, Dark, and Deep. I wish my podunk little library carried it too:(

    Hope you are loving Scarlet:))

  3. YES! I love Brodi Ashton and her Everneath series' covers are so gorgeous that they just need to be on everyone's shelves, lol. I read your review and I love that you liked it so much. And thank god it doesn't turn into a love triangle. I think Cole is interesting and I'm intrigued by him, but I think there's only one and will forever be only one person to claim her heart: Jack Caputo. This is such a great pile of books you've gotten this week, Lauren! Happy reading and have a lovely weekend, girl:)!!!

  6. That's actually kind of scary that you could be arrested just for driving. What if you're having a family emergency and everyone is going to starve if you don't buy food? What if your family needs some more blankets before they get hypothermia and you have to drive to the store? Creepy, creepy...

ANYWAYS, you got so many lovely books!! I just recently finished The Archived, and I really enjoyed it. The concept is probably the best part, and I hope that you like it as much as I did. I'm really excited to pick up Everbound and Asunder, and it's so neat that you got to meet both authors!! I met them both last year on a panel, which was seriously fantastic.

Enjoy your lovely books, and stay warm in that storm! <3

    1. Well I don't think it was that strict. If you HAD to be on the roads, they weren't going to do anything crazy. My husband actually had to go to work this afternoon before the ban was lifted and it was fine. But yes, there are a lot of crazy scenarios you could think up! It is so fun to meet authors, isn't it. I cannot wait to read The Archived too.

  13. Ah!! I'm SO excited to read Runaway King. I liked the first one more and more the more I thought about it after finishing, and think I'll go into the second with a completely different mindset. I'm also so excited for Quintana now that I've started Finnikin--I knew I'd love this series. Also the rest of this is awesomeness, which I don't need to tell you because you know. Stay warm and enjoy cuddling up with some amazing books!

  19. Love seeing Looking for Alibrandi in your pile! It's going to be my last Marchetta as well, and I'm already sad about that day. I need more books from her as soon as possible. I actually went crazy this week and ordered hard copies of all of her books for my shelves because I originally read them on my Kindle and NEED to have paperbacks/hardcovers to look at and flip through.

I just read Asheley's awesome review of Audrey, Wait! and it actually made me want to read the book. I hate the cover so much that I hadn't really even read a review of it because I just was not interested. And then she tricked me by putting a different cover in her post and that had me intrigued. So, looking forward to your review so I can see if you confirm her love for it!

Also, I just got approved this week for Quintana on NetGalley and legit did a little dance when I saw the email. Now I get to go straight into it when we finish Froi and I could not be more excited. So much goodness waiting for me!
