This week I can't wait for

The Kiss of Deception
by Mary E. Pearson
Expected publish date:  July 15th 2014 by Henry Holt (Macmillan)

In this timeless new trilogy about love and sacrifice, a princess must find her place in a reborn world.

In a society steeped in tradition, Princess Lia’s life follows a preordained course. As First Daughter, she is expected to have the revered gift of sight—but she doesn’t—and she knows her parents are perpetrating a sham when they arrange her marriage to secure an alliance with a neighboring kingdom—to a prince she has never met.

On the morning of her wedding, Lia flees to a distant village. She settles into a new life, hopeful when two mysterious and handsome strangers arrive—and unaware that one is the jilted prince and the other an assasin sent to kill her. Deception abounds, and Lia finds herself on the brink of unlocking perilous secrets—even as she finds herself falling in love.

I've been on a fantasy kick lately so an escaped princess coupled with a jilted prince, an assassin and delicious secrets is really exciting. But if you look closely at that cover there are 2 guys and that is obviously concerning for my attempt to stay away from all love triangles.

HOWEVER, I have been told by two people, that this book does not have a triangle, and that it's easy to tell whom Lia prefers.  Now I'm very excited to read it.

What are you waiting on this week?

  2. I am a littler nervous about the love triangle but am reassured by what you've heard-will need to start seeing some more reviews to get confirmation! I like the sound of assassins for sure.

  3. I know ARCs of this are out so I'm curious to see what the early response will be like. I love my fantasy, but I'm picky about it too, so hopefully this is one of the better ones. Either way, the cover is gorgeous and a lack of a love triangle is incredibly relieving. Thanks for letting us know about that, Lauren!(:

  4. The premise sounded like a love triangle lol, but I'm so glad that this doesn't actually have one. The cover is just so pretty and a fantasy with romance? YES, PLEASE! *goes to add it on GR*

  5. OK, I put off this book from my tbr, but your comment about it not really having a love triangle definitely calms me down a bit. You know how I feel about these bloody love triangles.
    Great pick!

  12. I've actually been on a bit of a contemporary kick lately and could use a good fantasy, especially one like this. I've never actually read anything by this author, either, so I'm doubly intrigued.
