THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the 2013 Summer Series Challenge!

A very special THANKS to our guest posters!
Don't miss any of these insightful discussions:

We'd love to hear from you!

1) Create your own closing post for the Summer Series Challenge.

Did you meet your goals? Tell us what books you read!

My Challenge Recap: Books I read this summer (this is embarrassingly low!)

Series I finished
Awaken by Meg Cabot (Abandon series)
The Pirate's Wish by Cassandra Rose Clarke (Assassin's Curse series)
Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover (Hopeless series)
Emerald Green by Kerstin Gier (Ruby Red series)

Series I read back-to-back
The Immortal Beloved Series by Cate Tiernan
(Immortal Beloved, Darkness Falls, Eternally Yours)

I'm pretty sure that none of these was on my original goals list. But I do have a few of those staring at me that I'd like to read soon. This is no excuse, but I had no idea how BEA would affect my reading this summer! I ended up focusing a lot more on new books than I intended.

2) Send us feedback.
How was your experience with the challenge? What worked? What didn't? Was three months too long? Please be honest, though if you'd rather not comment below, feel free to email Heather or me.

  1. So cool-I didn't officially participate but I finished a few series too (like Rae Carson's Girl of Fire and Thorns and Meg Cabot's Abandon like you). Excited to see everyone's wrap-up!

  2. Definitely enjoyed your series discussion posts this summer! I finished a couple of series, too, but didn't participate (I'm notoriously bad about keeping track of all that and even worse about posting so I just stopped. Hey, gotta know your limits...). Not surprised that many (if not all) of your series weren't on your reading list! It's hard to stick with a list for books, especially if you're a mood reader. Forcing yourself to read a book you don't want to read at that moment makes for less enjoyment, IMO.

  3. Lauren, I didn't get to half the books on my list either - no worries! - and I started about a dozen new series I wasn't planning to. BUT, this was SO much fun! I really had a great time and it motivated me a lot too. THANK YOU and Heather and Asheley for putting this together - it was brilliant! - and hopefully it'll be there next summer too! :)

  4. I think I started more series this summer than actually finishing them. lol! I'm a terrible finisher of series, I'm discovering. But just like Keertana, I had so much fun with the challenge. I got through half of my list! But maybe that's because I aimed low to begin with. :P Still, I enjoyed the challenge and the thoughtful posts every Friday throughout the summer. Thank you so much, ladies! I hope the summer series challenge becomes an annual event! :)

Also, I intend to finish the series I started this summer. I'm personally extending this goal until the end of the year. heehee :)

  5. Lauren I utterly failed at this challenge, I had such high hopes too, but seemed to get distracted by so many other things. But I'm glad that you were able to tackle quite a few series for your challenge. The Abandon series is high on my to read list! Despite being a failure! You've encouraged me to still try and get some series completed by the end of this year. So thank you for that! :)

  6. I posted this same comment on Heather's post, but it equally applies to you & wanted to make sure I told you how much I loved this challenge:

Congratulations on what you accomplished! As you probably know, I absolutely adored this challenge and am so glad I participated! For my first challenge ever, I think I picked a pretty great one :) I didn't read a ton from my original list, but I still finished a number of series and I know this challenge motivated me to get to them. So I'm really thankful for that!

I love some of the suggestions from Marlene! Particularly a progress report halfway through and a Twitter chat or two :) I think those would be fun little additions to this already awesome challenge! Thanks to all of you ladies for this awesome event and for all of your hard work. I'm so impressed and had so much fun joining in!
